On 19 May 2021, EUROMOVERS held the third of its virtual conferences to help keep members up to date of developments within the organisation and acknowledge its high achievers. The conference was attended by around 50 members and provided a useful and welcome contact while face to face meetings remain impossible.
The conference programme included: a workshop, led by Frank Lierz, helping members to take a practical approach toward staff retention; a report of a proposed financial management and netting system that EUROMOVERS is currently planning to introduce for the benefit of its members; and presentations by Menno Martens from SurveyPlus about the latest developments in virtual pre-move surveys, and EMS Cargo about the services the company offers to help smooth post-Brexit trade between the UK and the European Union.
EUROMOVERS general manager Thomas Juchum presented his regular progress report. This traditionally includes information about how the membership cooperates, the tonnage exchanged and, uniquely, service quality tables in which members rate their partners in terms of finance, operations and administration. Each company is rated by comparison with the average score in each category and the top companies appropriately honoured. Non-EU members are recognised separately.
Tonnage exchanged through the network had increased by 30% during 2020 which Thomas said was “Incredibly good!”. The top booker for 2020 was PSS International Removals in the UK, with NEDRAC the USA and ISS Relocation in Dubai in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
AW Transportation from the USA came top in ‘administration’ with a perfect score of 5/5 with Wilhelm Rosebrock of Bremen in 2nd and Travelcargo in Finland in 3rd. The same three companies took home the silver in the ‘operations’ category with Wilhelm Rosebrook in top spot, Travelcargo in 2nd and AW Transportation in 3rd. AW Transportation returned to pole position for ‘financial responsibility’ with Geuer International of Germany in 2nd and Travelcargo once again in 3rd.
International Sea & Air in New York was honoured in all non-EU categories. PSS in the UK took 3rd place in ‘financial responsibility’ with Orient Express of Singapore taking 3rd in both ‘operations’ and ‘administration’.
EUROMOVERS intends to hold its next face-to-face conference in Lisbon in May 2022. All companies will be formally presented with their awards at that time.
